The Japan Government Ready To Build A Special Airport In Cikarang

The Japan government is ready to build a special airport in Jakarta Bogor Depok Tangerang Bekasi areas (Jabodetabek), and the location for that new airport is in Cikarang, Bekasi regency.
The option to build the cargo airport is a part of Metropolitan Priority Area (MPA) agreement between Indonesia and Japan. The agreement is an agreement to build some transportation infrastructures in Jabodetabek areas with investment value of 2 trillion yens.
Economy Coordinator Minister, Hatta Radjasa and Japan Minister of Foreign Affair, Seiji Maehara signed the MPA contract agreement in the middle of December. The agreement contains of some access developments like Mass Rapid Transit or subway, Locomotive / Train, Power Plant, Clean Water Supply, and a new airport.
Issue about the new airport, General Director of Aviation-Ministry of Transportation, Herry Bakti said there should be a study about Jakarta Multi Airport. The study, which is expected to be completely done, is to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Pondok Cabe and a new location in Cikarang, Bekasi.
"The study of building a special cargo airport depends on the result, whether it would develop from the existing airport, or build a new one. If we have to build a new one, so the airport would be likely in Cikarang," Herry explained to a daily newspaper.
In relation to Cikarang area, Bekasi regency is one of regencies that is under study for a new airport building. Head of Facility and Infrastructure of Government Layout Agency of Bekasi Regency, Sutantio MT said it needs 1,000 hectares of land. North coast zone, Muaragembong, is possible to provide the land with that wide.
According to a daily newspaper, the new airport building will complete the position of Bekasi regency as an Industry town (hinterland). Besides being an industry town, this region is a choice to build an international port. Cikarang is chosen by Ministry of Transportation as a dry port location to support Tanjung Priok Port.
Cargo Airport
Ministry of Transportation will add more airports to be determined as cargo international airports for 14 (fourteen) airports. This is done to meet Economy Coordinator Minister and to adjust to the Assosiation Of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Open Sky Policy.
As in the regulation of Transportation Minister in Minister Decree Number 11 Year 2011 about National Airport Management, seven airports has been determined as cargo international airports to provide cargo service transportation with flight routes either in domestic or international through bilateral or multilateral agreement.
The seven cargo airports that have been operating are Sam Ratulangi Airport - Manado, Hasanuddin Airport - Makassar, Sepinggan Airport - Balikpapan, Supadio Airport - Pontianak, St. Badruddin Airport - Palembang, Frans Kaisiepo Airport - Biak and Hang Nadim Airport - Batam.
Ministry of Transportation also needs to add more cargo international airports for ASEAN countries in relation with ASEAN Open Sky Policy in 2013, they are Hasanuddin Airport-Makassar, Soekarno-Hatta Airport-Tangerang, Juanda Airport-Surabaya, Ngurah Rai Airport-Denpasar, and Polonia Airport-Medan.
