Garuda Indonesia Makes Investment On Its Cargo Business, Preparation Over The Freighter Presence

As part of its effort to improve service and get closer to customers, especially the cargo service users, PT. Garuda Indonesia Tbk. (Garuda) held the official opening of 20 Cargo Service Center in 15 cities in Indonesia.
Cargo Service Center official opening was carried out by the President & CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar and West Java Governor, who was represented by Assistant Regional Administrative Secretariat of West Java, H. Iwa Karniwa and attended by its business partners at Preanger Hotel, Bandung, in the mid of October (10/19).
Inauguration of Cargo Service Center marks the operation of 20 Cargo Service Center spread across 15 cities in Indonesia - Medan, Jambi, Tanjung Karang, Jakarta, Bandung, Jogja, Solo, Semarang Surabaya, Denpasar, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Kupang, Jayapura and Timika.
Cargo Service Center Garuda Cargo is the latest service that serves as part of promotion, Cargo Service Center and Outlet Sales. Through these services, Garuda Cargo will serve delivery from City
to Port and City to City, which serves as the Cargo Service Center Drop and Pick up Point. In addition, through this service, users can perform service delivery and collection of cargo/documents at Cargo Service Center nearby without visiting the airport.
Preparation strategy towards the freighter arrival
One of the SBU head of the Garuda Cargo stated to Cargo Times, in a special interview, that all investments done by the Garuda not only to increase company's income, but also to anticipate the plan of freighter provision. "What we are preparing is not only the human resources, but all things especially 'Operation Excellent Transport' that has important role if the cargo flight is available," he said.
In its press conference after Stakeholder Meeting on February 2012, VP Corporate Communication of Garuda, Pudjobroto said the Garuda Indonesia will have operated 196 flights up to 2015, consist of 24 A330, 9 B777, 85 B737-800NG, 50 A320 (for Citilink), 25 flights of sub-100 (less than 100 seats flight), and 3 Freighters.(mar)
