Airbus and Aviation Sans Frontieres send school supplies to Thailand on THAI
Clothes for children and paper, pads and pens shipped to Bangkok
The Airbus Corporate Foundation and Aviation Sans Frontieres have transported clothing and school supplies donated by Office Depot to Thailand from Toulouse, France, aboard the delivery flight of Thai Airways International (THAI)'s most recently delivered A380.
The aircraft took off from Toulouse on Friday 29th November and landed in Bangkok on Saturday 30th November at 9 am local time, loaded with 10 tonnes of goods destined to the Royal Project for Education, which helps build schools in rural areas all over Thailand.
These donations include new clothes for children between 0 and 6 years old as well as school supplies (paper, pads and pens).
Chokchai Panyayong, THAI Senior Executive Vice President, said: "This is the 4th goodwill flight we coordinate with the Airbus Corporate Foundation and the 3rd with one of our A380s. We are very proud to be able to use our delivery flights to transport donations such as these goods received by Aviation Sans Frontieres. The clothes and supplies will be particularly appreciated by children in rural areas in Thailand."
"The delivery flights of all-new aircraft are a perfect way to help deserving causes in our customer's countries. We would like to thank THAI and our partners involved in this project: Kuehne+Nagel for their logistics support, Office Depot - global office solutions provider to Airbus - for their generous donation of school supplies, and Aviation sans Frontieres without whom this project could not have been made possible", stated Andrea Debbane, Executive Director of the Airbus Foundation.
In recent years, Airbus has built up a global network of airlines and relief organisations to support international humanitarian causes. Delivery flights of new to be delivered aircraft have been used on numerous occasions to transport goods to destinations in need all over the world.
The Airbus Corporate Foundation was created to facilitate charitable activities worldwide within an international network of employees and partners. The Airbus Corporate Foundation started its operation on 1st December, 2008. The organisation focuses its support on three themes: humanitarian and community support, youth development and the environment.
Since its launch in December 2008, the Airbus Corporate Foundation has facilitated 37 relief or goodwill flights to numerous destinations all over the globe.
