Australia international numbers up 12.2pc
Australia's international scheduled freight traffic in April 2010 increased by 12.2 per cent over April 2009 to 61,858 tonnes, according to the latest data from the government's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE).
Inbound freight traffic increased by 29.2 per cent, the fifth month in a row to record month on month increases of more than 20 per cent.
It continues the recovery in inbound freight traffic after the month-on-month decreases of more than 20 per cent recorded from December 2008 through May 2009.
Outbound freight traffic decreased by 6.6 per cent in April 2010.
