JAS Launchs A Classy 521 Import Warehouse And Customer Service Center
PT. Jasa Angkasa Semesta Tbk. (JAS) on June 8 has launched a new modern facility of 521 Import Warehouse and a Customer Service in Cargo Area, International Airport of Soekarno Hatta (Soetta). Hotasi D.P. Nababan, President Director & CEO of JAS, said the 332 m2 warehouse' area will ease the process of import cargo handling in the airport, so that all consignee can be served fast, accurately and appropriately. This classy facility is the heart of all import services, giving certainty and uncomplicated the cargo release as well as the comfy service to customers. It starts from Customer Service (CS) centre, by building a minimalist style building, air-conditioned waiting room with modern couch, computerize facility with touch screen technology to pick up the cargoes, a personal computer for cargo web tracking using airway bill, JACS Cosys implementation, TV LCD monitor that shows the arrival and departure of flights; besides the professional CS staff, for the transparent service all rooms are designed with transparent glass. Then, for warehouse, the building is designed save power but using sun ray from morning to afternoon, good ventilation with good air circulation, big space of cabinets with the additional of "new cantilever", organized storages for dangerous goods and vulnerable goods, and cool room. There is also a special area for Rush Handling. Both warehouse and CS centre are backed up by Electric Power Genset. "Operational warehouse staffs' healthy becomes the JAS Management concern. Previously, the forklift with solar fuel gave bad impact to the health of warehouse staff for long term. Now, both forklifts and lifters are use electric battery," Hotasi explained in very detail about the new facility of JAS, Cargo Business Department. The development is done by JAS because based on the data the incoming cargoes have reached 80,000 tons/year. Therefore, there should be improvement both in volume and cargo capacity in JAS warehouse. According to JAS Annual Report, the cargo volume for 2010 reached 238,500 tons or increased by 20.3% compared to 2009 that only reached for 197,828 tons. That total is one-third of total tonnage in Soetta that reached 510 thousand tons. Actually, this import warehouse has been operating since 28th December 2010, and for the customer service center has been operating since March 2011. The launch of 332 m2 state-of-art facilities indicated by the signing on epi-graph by Tri S Sunoko, Managing Director of PT. Angkasa Pura II. "JAS Cargo with its one-stop-service is a sample of success to handling better cargo service ahead. And I will ask other operators to follow the sample that has been done by JAS, that is the success to combine three cargo management keys: 1. Facilities and Equipments, 2. Human Resources, and 3.
