PT Angkasa Pura II seems to be quite serious to expand their cargo business. The airport management is intended to expand their wings to become a player too, not only as a facility provider. This step is done to increase their contribution in cargo business in regard to the total of company's revenue. Faik Fahmi, the Commercial Director of PT Angkasa Pura II admitted that his side is processing a permit to build a cargo subsidiary that will be named PT Angkasa Pura Kargo. According to him, this new entity is intentionally prepared to be able to be involved in cargo business directly. Consequently, the corporate will only become a facilitator but also a player. "The consideration when talking about business size in cargo, it's big. The big cake is at the player side not the facility provider," he said sometimes ago. The plan for the first stage, Angkasa Pura Kargo will start to manage a warehouse at the International Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The new corporate will incorporate with the third party like an airline or a logistic partner. The pattern of work together could be in the form of profit sharing or joint venture. During 2015, PT Angkasa Pura II's cargo business were only success to record a contribution for Rp. 200 billion over the company's consolidation revenue. The corporate expects in 2020 the cargo business' contribution could increase more than 10 per cent from 3 per cent as today's contribution.(kompas.com)
