Citilink Starts to Apply EFB Tab in Cockpit
Citilink Indonesia, the LCC company of Garuda Indonesia Group, starts to use Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) to replace the manual book in every freight as one of the efforts to become information technology base airlines as well as to realize efficient and environmentally friendly flight.
EFB application has been proposed to the Directorate of Airplane Reliability and Operation (DKPPU) of the Transportation Ministry since 10 November 2015. After going through series in depth evaluation from DKPPU, Citilink Indonesia is the first Indonesian airline that uses EFB technology.
EFB device is a tablet device that contains collection of digital airplane manual that is needed by pilots in all Citilink Indonesia's fleets, like: operation manual, flight graphic, airport information, route information, performance calculation, weather information, flight logs and others using cloud computing technology.
Citilink Indonesia chose tablet that has been approved by FAA (Federal Aviation Administration, United States) and EASA (Europe Aviation Safety Body), besides battery safety certificate stipulated in UN Transportation Regulation (UN38.3) as the EFB device.
