Lufthansa to Grow Frankfurt Cool Center

Lufthansa Cargo is to expand the Cool Center at its home hub in Frankfurt, Germany, not long after it was awarded IATA's CEIV seal for pharmaceutical transports.
"After five years of success, we now intend to further upgrade and significantly expand our Cool Center next year," said dr Alexis von Hoensbroech, Lufthansa Cargo Board member Product and Sales.
The Cool Center was completed in December 2011 and currently covers 4,500 square metres and boasts four cold-storage rooms kept at different temperatures (2 to 8 degrees C, 15 to 25 degrees C, -12 to -20 degrees C and 5 to 15 degrees C) as well as a deep-freeze room and direct access to the apron.
It is already Europe's largest airline hub for temperature-sensitive cargo.
When the upgrade is completed, it will cover 8,000 square metres from late northern summer 2017.
As well as the expansion, all Cool Center infrastructure will also be upgraded.
