Angkasa Pura Logistics To Launch Transshipment Service in Ngurah Rai Airport Bali

In anticipation of the year ahead, PT Angkasa Pura Logistik (Angkasa Pura Logistics) announces the commencement of air cargo transshipment services in I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, Bali. As Bali Branch Head Ida Bagus Agung Mandala mentioned, this service is intended to expedite trade, and his team is ready to carry out transshipment process for various airlines, freight forwarders and shippers.

It goes without saying that Bali is an important stop over point for major carriers, particularly from Australia and New Zealand to Asia and Europe. To name but a few, the flow of goods through Ngurah Rai airport includes perishable goods, marine commodities and valuable cargo. Most of these shipments may take 6 to 8 hours of transit in Bali. As the cargo is not meant for consumption in the intermediate destination, it remains in designated customs area, awaiting the next connecting flight. Transfers from one carrier to another becomes necessary due to airline schedules, or shipment consolidation from narrow-body aircrafts into wide-body one. To facilitate the transshipment process, APLog provides equipment, IT system and manpower to handle the movement of goods upon arrival, followed by necessary customs documentation at temporary storage, until departure by next flights.

Effective November 27, 2017, The Ngurah Rai International Airport Customs and Excise Office has authorized the operation of Angkasa Pura Logistics transshipment service. Bali Branch Cargo Terminal Department Head Tjandra Karamoy explained, the Customs and Excise Office will supervise handling at transshipment location. Angkasa Pura Logistics helps with necessary documents and transfer of goods from one carrier to another. “The license issued by the Customs Office for our temporary storage does not cover export or import – it is solely intended for transshipment activities,” added Tjandra.

As Herry A.Y. Sikado, President Director of Angkasa Pura Logistics, said, “We are grateful that the transshipment cargo service is fully supported by Indonesian customs as well as various key stakeholders. There are two noteworthy gateways to Indonesia: One is situated in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta and the other is in I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali. Hopefully, the said transshipment will create value for the province of Bali.” Sikado also promised that Angkasa Pura Logistics will improve the facilities as required by regulation from time to time. The company will also take significant steps to streamline the shipping process as much as possible.
