STARLUX Airlines Becomes the First Airline in Taiwan to Achieve IATA CEIV Lithium Batteries Certification

STARLUX Airlines has successfully obtained CEIV Lithium Batteries certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), making it the first and only airline in Taiwan to receive this certification.

Glenn Chai, CEO of STARLUX Airlines, stated that the airline is committed to the motto “Safety is our attitude”. By maintaining the highest standards in cargo handling, STARLUX ensures safe, high-quality transportation services to its customers. Receiving IATA CEIV Lithium Batteries certification is an indication of the international recognition that STARLUX Airlines’ operational procedures and staff have achieved. STARLUX Airlines will continue to optimize its processes to provide more efficient and safer cargo services and ensure that every shipment reaches its destination safely.

Lithium batteries are essential components of modern technological products and are widely used in various electronic devices. However, their high energy density means improper handling can pose a significant risk to air cargo security. With the rapid growth of global e-commerce, the transportation volume of lithium batteries has risen sharply, leading to strict requirements for their safe handling and transportation. The IATA CEIV Lithium Batteries certification establishes a standard designed to improve the quality and safety of lithium battery transportation across the industry.

STARLUX Airlines adheres to IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR) and IATA Battery Shipping Regulations (BSR) in its operational procedures. Through comprehensive staff training, ensuring proper declarations and packaging by shippers, and enhanced X-ray security checks, STARLUX Airlines maintains compliance with safety protocols and operational standards. These measures minimize the risks associated with transporting lithium batteries and offer customers the highest safety and reliability.

STARLUX Airlines demonstrates strong performance in belly cargo using passenger aircraft and continues to expand its cargo business to meet the robust demand for air cargo import and export. The five A350F freighters that STARLUX Airlines has ordered are expected to be delivered in 2027. In the future, STARLUX Airlines will actively expand its cargo market and continuously optimize operations and technology applications to provide customers and partners with professional, diversified, and reliable transportation services.
