AF-KLM Sees Rise In Cargo Revenue
Air France-KLM for the third month running reported a strong rise in unit revenues as the aviation sector continues to paint a brisk recovery, reported Reuters. The France-Dutch group said higher traffic and unit revenues in passenger and cargo sectors reflected both an upturn in demand and its own efforts to keep a lid on capacity. Passenger traffic rose 1.2 percent in July with capacity, or the number of seats on sale, remaining flat. The passenger load factor, or proportion of available seats actually sold, rose 1.1 percentage points to 86.2 percent. Unit revenues saw a "strong year-on-year rise," with a marked recovery in premium and economy classes, the group said.
Unit revenues were especially strong on long-haul Asian and American networks, it said. In cargo, traffic rose 1.7 percent and the load factor gained 2.4 points to 66.2 percent. Here too, unit revenues rose strongly compared with July last year.(cna/ayos)
