One of famous agrifood companies in Indonesia, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk. (Japfa) export 110,000 hatching eggs parent stocks (PS) broiler to Myanmar.This is able to be done after the the government and the Indonesian entrepreneurs conducted negotiation with the Myanmar government to give "green light" for import. This is said by the Executive Vice President of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk., A. Herwanto after the initial export of parent stock that transported by Thai Airways plane via the services of Thai Cargo at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Cargo Area. Officials that also attended the event were the Directorate General of Farms and Livestock Health of the Agriculture Ministry (Dirjen PKH Kementrian Pertanian), Muladno and The Head of Livestock Quarantine Centre and Biodiversity Safety of the Agriculture Ministry (Kepala Pusat Karantina Hewan & Keamanan Hayati Kementrian Pertanian), Sujarwanto. Muldano said the export to Myanmar needed a serious negotiation. One of the law constraints there is a requirement about imports that can be done if the origin country is certified Aviant Influenza (AI) free by the World Livestock Health Organization (Office International des Epizooties/OIE). Indonesia hadn't been free from AI, yet Japfa did compartmentalization vertically at the nursery, the hatchery, the commercial farms and chicken slaughterhouses. Currently, Japfa Comfeed Indonesia has been certified as an Aviant Influenza Free compartment so that the export can be done. Muladno said by giving assurance to the government, entrepreneurs and Myanmar Poultry stakeholders, they finally changed their country's internal policy and gave permission for PS from Indonesia. Muladno hoped the Japfa's steps could be followed by other big companies. "We, in the Directorate General of Farms and Livestock Health will facilitate the exporters to be able to do expansion with the poultry products to export destination countries. Our poultry products, especially broiler chicken have expanded widely and face surplus (of quota), so that they should be exported", he said. Before the export, there is a direct evaluation by Myanmar delegation, Deputy of Poultry, Fish and Uncultivated Areas, Aung Myat Oo, and the President of Farm Association, Mya Han to PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia factory. At the same event in Gapura Cargo warehouse, Sujarwanto said to give Aviant Influenza free warranty, his side will award a free Aviant Influenza certification for PS export. According to the health check technic, eggs can be exported after being certified free from 16 Poultry diseases as required.(mar)
