Airport Health Office (Kantor Kesehatan Pelabuhan - KKP) of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA), Tangerang, Banten set body temperature scan machine as a preventive action against Zika virus that may be brought by passengers from abroad. This is as a follow up action after the travel advisory or notification in relation with passengers from countries with high risk status of Zika by the Health Ministry. The Head of KKP SHIA, Susanto said, passengers who come from abroad and arrive at the airport must pass the thermoscanner or body temperature scan at the arrival gate. "Mainly, passengers who come from a country with high risk status of Zika virus," said Susanto, Wednesday (Aug 31) The body temperature scan can read the temperature of human body above 38 degree. "Indeed, we have known the outbreak of the virus has spread to all over the world since 2016. By the instruction from the Health Ministry to increase alertness at the arrival gate in a country (therefore, we set this machine)," said he. Zika virus is a member of Flabivirua (Flavivirus) virus, or it is very closed to Dengue. This virus is spread by Aedes mosquitos. A pregnant woman who is infected by Zika virus will get inflammation including severe brain malformations in fetus' brain.
