Angkasa Pura Logistik Added Up More Cargo Freighters

To strengthening the company’s business on air freight service and as the company’s contribution to realize the national logistics. As one of PT Angkasa Pura I’s (Persero) subsidiary in logistic business, PT Angkasa Pura Logistik launched a special cargo freighter or the second freighter, ATR 72-500F PK-PAT.

Previously, Angkasa Pura Logistik has launched a new business unit, air freight services through the launch of the first cargo freighters on 4th June 2020 at Syamsudin Noor Airport Banjarmasin.

On Saturday 5th September 2020 at Juanda Airport Surabaya, the launch ceremony of the second freighter was held online by the Operation Director of PT Angkasa Pura Logistik Akhmad Munir, Business Director of PT Pos Logistik Indonesia Titik Sugiharti, and The Commander of Navy Airport (Danlunadal), Colonel Muhammad Tohir.

The ceremony was signed with the pushback procession of the freighter aircraft that will take off from Juanda Airport Surabaya to Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar.

On a separate occasion, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Faik Fahmi said, “In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Angkasa Pura I continues to seek and strengthen alternative sources of income through the expansion of its subsidiary businesses, one of which is the Angkasa Pura Logistik air freight business, which this time has an additional cargo aircraft fleet. This is in line with the Angkasa Pura I’s strategy in facing the new normal adaptation phase that is a rebound strategy where the strengthening of the new business portfolio is included in one of other five initiatives such as the preparation of the new normal, business process improvement, organization restructuring, enterprise architecture, and strategic procurement.”

“Hopefully with the operation of our second cargo plane will be an answer for air cargo transportation in eastern Indonesia so that cargo distribution will turn out quickly, precisely and at relatively affordable prices,” said the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Logistik Danny P. Thaharsyah.

Currently, Dany continued, the service of Angkasa Pura Logistik’s air freight has been supported by two ATR 72-500 aircrafts leased from PT Pelita Air (Persero) and in the next few months 1 aircraft of Boeing 737-300 will be added to improve service efficiency.

With the routes to 10 cities - 9 domestic routes and 1 international route, the three freighters will serve several general cargo deliveries and special cargoes such as sea products, dangerous goods, and oversized product cargoes. The 10 cities are Jakarta, Denpasar, Makassar, Kendari, Ambon, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Manado, Batam, dan Singapura.

The two ATR 72-500s hold cargo capacity for 8.000 kg, the first cargo serves 3 routes, Jakarta - Batam - Jakarta, Jakarta - Banjarmasin - Jakarta, Jakarta - Makassar - Jakarta, and one route for the second aircraft, Surabaya - Makassar - Surabaya. Later, for Boeing 737-300 aircraft, which has a cargo capacity of 15,000 kg, will serve Makassar - Singapore - Denpasar - Jakarta - Makassar route.
