Continued partnership between Edelweiss Air and Swiss WorldCargo

Swiss WorldCargo (SWISS), the freight division of Swiss International Air Lines, and Edelweiss Air (Edelweiss), Switzerland’s leading leisure travel airline and sister company of Swiss International Air Lines, have agreed to a continued partnership for the coming years.  

The agreement, effective since the beginning of 2019, will see SWISS continue to market and sell Edelweiss freight capacity. Both companies will benefit from the expanding Edelweiss network, while pursuing additional global growth opportunities. SWISS will maintain responsibility for managing the belly cargo of the entire Swiss International Air Lines and Edelweiss fleet on all applicable routes. 

Edelweiss and SWISS have enjoyed a close partnership since 2009. In recent years, the Edelweiss fleet and range of destinations has grown significantly. Edelweiss now flies to over 70 destinations in 34 countries, and the airline’s fleet consists of a total of 16 aircraft, including 10 Airbus A320s, 2 Airbus A330s, and 4 Airbus A340s. 

SWISS markets cargo capacity for Edelweiss on the following destinations:
•    North and South America: Vancouver, Calgary, Cancun, San Jose, Tampa, Orlando, Punta Cana, Rio de Janeiro, San Diego, Havana and Buenos Aires
•    Africa and Asia: Phuket, Colombo, Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, Malé, Mauritius and Cape Town
•    Europe: Larnaca, Gran Canaria, Pristina, Tenerife and Skopje

Lion Air menginformasikan, bahwa dengan adanya temporary grounded penerbangan Lion Air tetap
beroperasi normal. Lion Air meminimalisir dampak yang timbul agar operasional dapat berjalan dengan baik
dan tidak terganggu. Lion Air tetap melayani rute-rute yang selama ini dioperasikan Boeing 737 MAX 8
dengan mengganti menggunakan armada Lion Air lainnya. Lion Air mengoperasikan berbagai tipe pesawat,
terdiri dari 70 Boeing 737-900ER (215 kelas ekonomi), 38 Boeing 737-800NG (189 kelas ekonomi) dan tiga
Airbus A330-300 (440 kelas ekonomi).

Karena karakteristik itulah, Malindo Air memulai penerbangan perdana antara Langkawi
dan Melaka di Malaysia yang dioperasikan menggunakan pesawat ATR 72-600 berkapasitas
72 kursi. Penerbangan tersedia tiga kali setiap minggu pada Rabu, Jumat dan Minggu.
Penerbangan nomor OD-1350 berangkat dari Bandar Udara Internasional Melaka (MKZ)
pukul 14.05 waktu setempat (Malaysia Standard Time, GMT+8), membawa 72 penumpang
dan tiba di Bandar Udara Internasional Langkawi (LGK) pukul 15.45 waktu setempat. Malindo
Air mendapatkan sambutan hangat dengan water cannon, diikuti flower gallon dan
pemberian goodie bags kepada penumpang di terminal kedatangan.
