HK's No 2 ground handler enjoys 56pc June tonnage boost
Hong Kong's Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), the airport's No 2 ground handler, has announced that the company handled 60,024 tonnes of cargo in June, a 56 per cent increase year on year.
Exports came to 42,406 tonnes, up 70 per cent against the same month last year. June imports hit 17,173 tonnes, up 33 per cent. Transshipments reached 445 tonnes, down 11 per cent.
Cumulative export volume for the first half came to 233,596 tonnes, up 67 per cent year on year. Import tonnage for first six months increased 25 per cent to 94,922 tonnes and transhipments were down 0.1 per cent to 2,384 tonnes against June of 2009.
Said AAT corporate development chief Nelson Lee: "It is encouraging that we had significant growth in the first half. This trend should continue for the rest of the year."
