In Indonesia, Movers is exist and prospective. And many players have been involved, including some foreign players. Many players have come into competition as tight as in logistics business. Though they are in tight competiton, but those players are keeping good communication among them, and finally agree to set up IMC (Indonesian Movers Community). IMC is set up as an interaction medium in developing the business both in quality and quantity. Any meetings of IMC are expected to tighten cooperation among them and socialize the existence to this business and organization through mass media. After inactive for more than 1.5 years, according to IMC executive Irma Safitri, this organization then again active. On March 29, this organization again conducted a meeting in Cilandak, Jakarta. The meeting with theme "IMC Toward Professional Movers Indonesia" was done in afternoon tea, with some agendas including program sharing and socialization, up date data, new member recruitment and IMC executive completion. "IMC and members should support and help each other. For us (new executives) it is better to retire from executive board if some or one of our members are going to bancrupty," Hendratmoko, Msi, Head of IMC, said in his remark speech. In line with the theme, he expects all members to improve professionalism through training, education, and workshop. This is to build human resources that ready to compete and to get acknowledgement both from national and international community. Moreover, all foreign movers doing business in Indonesia have adopted the international standard of professionalism. In addition to present the program, the meeting also becomes opportunity to get response, inputs, and feedback from all participants. "We expect that IMC which is now member of GAFEKSI (ALFI), will come to an organization with status acknowledged by the government like other associations. Hence we have to own standards to be an indipendent oraganization," said Hendratmoko. He said members are coming from various business permit, some with forwarders permit and others with couriers permit. Some say that movers is part of logistics business. "What we discuss and share today is also to improve our knowledge on movers business, in addition to build fraternity among us, of course," he said. He also expects that in the future, IMC will become a solid community, be ready to help each other, more professional, and more capable to survive. "With these, we are ready to face the challenge," Hendratmoko closed his statement, hoping for more positive inputs from IMC members.(mar)
