A State-Owned National Airline, Garuda Indonesia (Garuda) purchased six wide body fleets of Airbus 330-200 for US$1,15 millions that will be operated for Asia-Pacific, Middle-East and Europe routes. “Since the first operating of A330-200 last year, that fleet had proofed to be the winner in terms of passengers conveniences and economical operational budget,” Emirsyah, President Director of Garuda, said in press conference, on Friday (23/07). According to Emirsyah, this fleet is excellent on many sides, which one of them is able to provide maximum convenience for passengers. Moreover, this type of fleet has economical side and is able to support Garuda’s improvement as a premium airline in International routes. That type of fleet is also able to fly with further destination with low operation budget, yet extraordinarily convenience, which makes Garuda as a premium airline could provide International services profitably and efficiently. The signing of purchasing by Garuda and Airbus was done on Farnborough Airshow event, in England sometimes ago. President and CEO of Airbus, Tom Senders said his side is very happy to be able to continue in working together with Garuda by purchasing Airbus fleets. Airbus planed to arrive in Indonesia in 4th Quarter/2012. Garuda is currently operating 4 (four) leasing units of A330-200 and 6 units of A330-300 belonged to Garuda. (AYOS)
