Starts From The Singapore Airshow 2012
The Singapore Airshow 2012 at Changi Exhibition Centre, from 14 - 19 February was not the first place or an initiative preliminary for Indonesian Airlines in looking for the some type of proper planes for the fleets. Each airlines has their own internal strategy in selecting a proper plane type of their fleet development. The location of prestigious aviation exhibition besides providing famous manufacturer of aviation industry, it is also closer from Indonesia compared if the exhibition were conducted in different continent. So then, many national airlines' top manager and they technical consultant were came there to making decision to choose a plane, to buy in the fast response.
Merpati: The purchasing of 40 jets with 100 seats, ARJ 21-700 by PT. Merpati Nusantara Airlines is expected to be able to boost Merpati enhancing their services to remote area and lessening the isolation of the people. ARJ21, is a new type of turbofan short/medium range regional jet. The range of the standard ARJ21 is 2,225 km, which is mainly for meeting the operation requirements of hub-spoke routes, ie from central cities to neighboring medium and small cities. The maximum takeoff weight of the aircraft is 40,500 kg, the maximum operating altitude 11,900 m, and the maximum range 3,700 km. Two CF34-10A engines are mounted on the rear of the aircraft. There are 78 seats in a dual-class configuration and 90 seats in a full economy class configuration. Its economic life is designed to be 60000 flying hours/20 calendar years.
Garuda: PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk. on Wednesday (Feb. 15) did the signing of provision for 18 planes type CRJ 1000 Next Gen with Bombardier Aerospace, a Canadian company that produces plane. Designed specifically to meet the needs of airlines in high-frequency regional markets, the CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft is now proving that it is a sound investment for its operators. The CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft is achieving the lowest cash operating cost per mile and per seat for operators in its market segment, while delivering extra range, exceptional reliability and a greener footprint. The CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft has been achieving a mission fuel consumption rate that is four per cent better than estimated at launch. The improved fuel burn directly results in a four per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to an average reduction of nearly 700 tons of greenhouse gases per aircraft, each year. The CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft is also achieving six per cent greater range than previously advertised, providing additional operational flexibility. The competitive aircraft is more than 9,700 kg (21,385 lbs) or 22 per cent heavier than the CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft for comparable passenger flights or same distance missions. The CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft's lower operating weight empty (OWE), fuel-efficient General Electric engines and high-efficiency wing design are key factors contributing to the airliners lower fuel burn.
Lion Air: As a continuation of MoU implementation on 18 November 2011 in Bali, between Lion Air and Boeing Company on 14 February 2012 right at the same time as the Singapore Air Show in Changi Airport, Singapore has signed the contract to purchase 230 B737s. The planes are 29 planes of B737-900ER and 201 B737 MAXes as new types of 737 series. B737 MAX is a developing plane of 737 series both from the technology and operational cost efficiency. This plane is designed based on the strength and the selling success of 737 Next Generation. And this plane is made based on the merger between the newest technology development in aviation and other repairs, so that it can give maximum efficiency level to all levels, reliability, comfort, and attractiveness for passengers. Besides Boeing, Lion Air will order 27 planes of ATR in the same exhibition. A day after (on 15 February), at the same moment at Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore, Lion Air signed the contract agreement with the Hawker Beechcraft Corporation.The contract value is around US$ 64 million or Rp. 576 billion, signed related to the purchasing of 4 Hawker Planes 900 XP where 2 planes are affirmatively provision and the 2 others are options. Hawker 900 XP is a plane with medium size Business Jet (private jet) that can carry 11 people including the crews, and it's the newest product (2012) from Hawker Beechcraft Corporation USA. It's moved by the twin turbofan machine of engine type TFE731-50R, that is able to fly for 6 hours non-stop with the needs of runway that is not too long.(mar)
