PT Angkasa Pura Kargo (AP Kargo), a subsidiary company of PT Angkasa Pura II, will make a cargo village project to solve over capacity of cargo storage problems. Cargo village will be built on a 90Ha land with the cargo capacity target for 1.5 million tons. "Now, we will move the cargoes storage on the 30 Ha land areas to the 90 Ha land areas. So, the areas will be three times bigger than the current areas," said the Managing Director of PT Angkasa Pura Kargo Denny Fikri at HIPMI office, Jakarta, Wednesday (9/11/2016). Currently, the capacity of cargo terminal storage at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA) is 300,000 - 700,000 ton per annum that are stored on the 30 Ha land areas. Therefore, it is necessary to build a cargo village; moreover, one of the purposes is to make the SHIA as a hub so that it can store cargoes that will be delivered to or from abroad. He hopes there'll be a technology to accelerate the process at the cargo village. He is still considering whether to use foreign technology or local technology. The tender process will be in 2017 to determine the operator and to accommodate the system. Besides the cargo village project, Denny will also build the land cargoes delivery access that is difficult due to the overcapacity. In order to handle this, the delivery could use the SHIA's railway and Kunciran Tol, which are under construction.
