PT Angkasa Pura Logistik (APLog), one of the subsidiaries of Angkasa Pura Airports, launched an air freight service as the effort to strengthen company’s business and logistic connectivity in Indonesia. In the air freight services, APLog work together with PT Pelita Air Service (PAS) as a partner of freighter (cargo airplane) rental provider.
The launching ceremony was done virtually in two places, Angkasa Pura Airports Head Office at Kemayoran, Jakarta and at Syamsudin Noor Airport, Banjarmasin on Thursday, 4 June 2020.
The launch was conducted by the President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports, Faik Fahmi and the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Logistik, Danny P. Thaharsyah. It was signed by the freighter off procession that took off from Syamsudin Noor Airport, Banjarmasin to Juanda Airport, Surabaya. The launch was also attended by the acting official of President Director of PT Pelita Air Service, Muhammad Priadi.
“In the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, the operation of public transportation that carry passengers is included air transportation, is limited to minimize the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, through its subsidiary company, Angkasa Pura I try to boost the cargo business performance that has been slow a little bit during the pandemic like passengers’ traffic. This is the company’s commitment to contribute to strengthening the logistic connectivity in Indonesia,” said Faik Fahmi, the President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports.
Moreover, in long term, quoted from Mondor Intelligence Report 2019 data, the air freight business in Indonesia is projected to have been increased by 110% since 2018-2024 from US$9.21 billion to be US$19.3 billion with total volume of air freight market is predicted to keep increasing for 26% up to 2023 and the domestic delivery will reach 52% of total air freight market.
“Angkasa Pura Logistik tries to catch and use the high air freight business growth potency in Indonesia through the launch of air freight service,” said Danny P Thaharsyah, the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Logistik.
Previously, on Wednesday, 3rd June 2020, PAS handed over the ATR 72-500 airplane officially to APLog at Halim Perdanakusumah Airport.
“PAS dominate aviation sector, meanwhile Angkasa Pura Logistik has ability in logistics sector under PT Angkasa Pura 1 that manage airports in eastern and central Indonesia. Therefore, this joint work become a synergy form for mutual benefits,” said Muhammad Priadi, the acting official of President Director of PAS.
Danny P. Thaharsyah said the first stage, air freight services are supported by two ATR 72-500 freighters leased from Pelita Air. There’ll be another one flight of Boeing 737-300 to improve the service efficiency.
These three fleets deliver general cargoes and special cargoes like marine products, dangerous goods, and oversize cargoes with routes to ten cities (9 domestic and 1 international destinations), they are, Denpasar, Makassar, Kendari, Ambon, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Manado, Batam, and Singapore.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Priadi said the ATR 72-500 belonged to PAS is the right choice used by APLog to deliver cargoes because it can land or take off in a short runway besides it’s safe to operate and easy to maintain.
The two ATR 72-500s with cargo capacity 8,200 kgs operate for two routes, Jakarta (CGK) - Batam (BTH) - Jakarta (CGK) - Banjarmasin (BDJ) - Balikpapan (BPN) - Jakarta (CGK), and Makassar (UPG) - Manado (MDC) - Makassar (UPG) - Ambon (AMQ) - Kendari (KDI) - Makassar (UPG).
And the B737-300 with cargo capacity for 15,000 kgs will operate for Makassar (UPG) - Singapore (SIN)- Denpasar (DPS) - Jakarta (CGK) - Makassar (UPG).
“The launch of Angkasa Pura Logistik’s air freights has completed the company’s logistic business portfolio where, previously, the portfolio of the company’s logistic business cover forwarder business, expedition of air freight cargoes, merchandise distribution center, total baggage solution, and warehouse.
It’s expected that the more complete the logistic services are can gain competitiveness and company’s business as well as it can contribute towards the improvement of connectivity, accessibility, and the national logistic effectiveness,” closed Danny.
